Green Bay Packers Increase Security

Apparently we have been risking our lives when we have swiped our tickets at a Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field. Announced earlier this week, the team will be constructing a $1 million dollar 2-1/2 foot high concrete barrier around most of the stadium. It will sit roughly 100 feet from the exterior of Lambeau. The goal is not to detract from the mystique of Lambeau, but to add to it's beauty with flowers and planeters. Funding is readily available for a project such as this through the Packers' capital improvement

The NFL requires such a barrier, and so, the Packers are getting busy and planning to have the work completed in . The Lambeau Field parking lots will be affected slighty, but to no big deal.

Green Bay Packers' Brett Favre Closer to Tip Top Shape

While Brett Favre has sat out a few Green Bay Packers team practices, as he has to continue to rest his ankle and now his shoulder which he has said is tendinitis and "nothing serious", he still feels good for the upcoming season. Favre said he is going to continue to work with his personal trainer on core conditioning and move to moving drills to help Favre go back to what made him famous - moving out of pocket.

On packers.com, Favre was quoted as saying, "I get tired a lot quicker now than I used to, so after a play I have to be able to regroup and run the next play." It sounds like Brett recognizes his age is catching up with him, but with a little extra hard work and creative conditioning, he can keep tricking his body. I know many folks who still think he looks like a kid, that is for sure!

Dreaming of Lambeau...

All this Packers talk is getting me so excited for the first game!! Just under TWO MONTHS until the first Green Bay Packers preseason game!!!

My first game was a preseason game three years ago when I found really cheap Green Bay Packers Tickets...and since then...I've had Lambeau Field fever, on top of my ongoing case of Packers fever. Going to Green Bay now, for me, is a little bit like going home!!

I'll never forget the first time I saw the field. I'd seen it a million times on television and I had studied the Lambeau Field seating chart religiously--so I was expecting this enormous stadium. I couldn't believe how small and intimate it was. The larger than life icons taking the field suddenly looked life-size. I felt like I was at a local high school game. And, no matter where you sit you are so close to the action. I've sat 5 rows up and 49 rows up, and both times I was completely entranced by the game.

While you can count on having a good time at Lambeau...one thing you cannot count on is the weather. I've been to a preseason game in 90 degree temperatures. Then, months later, I'll be sitting in the same stadium bundled up in zillions of layers, gloves, hats and big boots--barely able to lift my arms beneath all my attire to cheer on the green and gold.

But, soon you learn the temperature doesn't matter. It's all about watching good football and having a good time with your friends, and the friends you make while you're there. There's nothing like the camaraderie at Lambeau. With every good play and every touchdown--there are plenty of high fives, hugs, chest butts to go around. Chances are you will embrace the stranger sitting next to you on a number of occasions.

There's no place like Lambeau!!!

Antonio Freeman's Retirement Party

Looks like Antonio Freeman's retirement party will be held in Green Bay, WI, as he has unofficially signed a contract to play for the Green Bay Packers in the upcoming season.

A favorite target of #4 Brett Favre in the 8 seasons they played together. Freeman caught 431 passes, or bullets as the NFL announcers like to say.

Not that you forgot, but remember the famous play on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings? Freeman caught a crazy ball of Favre's, a ball the announcers said was uncatchable given the conditions, but Freeman not only caught the ball; he ran it in for a touchdown!

David Clowney signs contract with Packers

Virginia Tech wide receiver David Clowney signed a contract, the first rookie thus far, with the Green Bay Packers. Clowney was drafted in the fifth-round of the NFL draft and has obviously already impressed coaches.

Details of the deal haven't been confirmed, other than it being a 4 year deal, which is the longest contract a player picked later than the third round can sign.

14th Annual Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale

Can it be true? Green Bay Packers' gear at 40 to 70 percent off!

This weekend, Juen 8th and 9th, in the Lambeau Field atrium, fans and bargain shoppers alike can find some sweet deals on all things Packers. Packers Jerseys. Packers T-Shirts. Packers hats. Packers bobbleheads. Game-worn gear, including autographed Packers jerseys and pants. All will be a the 14th Annual Green Bay Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale. This event used to take place out in the parking lot of Lambeau, but now with the atrium begging to be used and the rain ceasing to stop, the event is help indoors.

While the offerings are lighter than in recent years, due to the renovated Packers Shop within Lambeau Field and you won't find many items with #4 on them, there still is enough to keep Packers' fans happy! The equipment manager seems to get credit for the "best" stuff. For obvious reasons, this is the place to be if you are looking for size 16 shoes or a 4xl jacket!
If history repeats itself, you may want to head to Lambeau Field early. Doors will be open from 9a-5p each day, but shoppers get the line started hours earlier.
