Moving to another Packers blog

I am in the process of moving to another blog address. That's just as well, because I have been put in the "penalty box," just becuase I am a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers. Yes, they ended their season 6-10, and Aaron Rodgers played better than Brett Favre, but there is no "I" in team. There is no "I" in Favre either, but I had to find an ending to that sentence.

Once I get my new and improved blog up and running, I'll tell you all where to go. For now, let's hope that the Packers defensive staff can bring their house in order. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of this cold, snowy winter.

Bears Trek to Lambeau to Take a Likely Pounding

It appears that Chicago Bears' quarterback Kyle Orton will be starting Sunday against the Packers in Lambeau. I don't think this is good news for Packers fans, as we can usually rely on backup quarterback Rex Grossman to throw a few picks. Though, Coach Lovie Smith can really only have so many wins in a row at Lambeau Field. He is going to end his winning streak at four. The Packers will prevail. They may have a lot working against them for this crucial divisional meeting, but the Packers will have 72,000 loyal fans, Milwaukee Season ticket-holders, nonetheless, standing for every down.

The Packers will be looking to exchange favors from last season with the Bears, who swept the Packers last season. The weather won't be helping either team as the forecast in Green Bay Sunday calls for a few snow showers and 37 degrees! Yuck. Welcome to the winter in Wisconsin! It will give us a chance to see how Rodgers takes to the elements. We know his predecessor, at least for 95% of his career in the green and gold, took quite well to the sleet, snow and cold.

Go Pack Go. This is a must-win if there ever was one!

The Packers loss Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings still hurts. Nice job refs. Nice play-calling Mike McCarthy. Nice job offensive line. And finally, to you Mr. Aaron Rodgers, you sign the big contract and then what?

If you believe in football karma, the right team did win. The Packers had no business even being in the game, were it not for the defense and special teams putting points on the board. In the NFC North, the Packers now sit in third place, with the 0-9 Detroit Lions rounding out the division. This is not where you want your team to be with seven games to go. I, along with many others, believe that this game against the Vikings was to be the game that lead the green and gold to the post-season. While they lost the Titans game, the team played tough. It appears that the loss to the Titans has shaken their confidence vs increasing it. With the Bears coming to Lambeau Field this weekend, we are seriously looking at the ultimate in must-win situations. If the Packers pull off the win, they will tie the Bears in-division record of 3-1. Then if we see a Vikings loss against the 6-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, we are looking at a three-way tie in the division. If you are a Packers fan, this has to happen to stay alive.

The Packers have the added problem to rectify before Sunday in the huge loss of middle linebacker Nick Barnett; out with a torn ligament in his right knee. Barnett is a leader on the team both on the field and off making this injury all the more painful. Mike McCarthy and the other coaches haven't decided who is filling this position, whether it's moving starters to the middle like A.J. Hawk or Brandon Chiller, or giving Barnett's backup a shot, Desmond Bishop. Whoever is lined up come noon on Sunday needs to step it up. The run defense has been pitiful in the last few games. I am afraid to say it but they can't get much worse against the run. Can they

With this Packers Vikings annual ritual of horn blowing in the Metrodome behind us, we can focus to win these last seven and end at 11-5, potentially squeaking in to the post-season. I think we can safely say the Green Bay Packers won't be playing host to two NFC Championship games in a row. I will be taking those dollars and moving them right in to Packers tickets for Sunday, as this game is out NFC Championship game of the 2008 season.

Come on Guys. Buck up and let's win a couple.

Another Packers Fan

It doesn't happen often, but I have allowed a fellow Packers fan to post to my Packers blog. She might be going hog wild now that she has the ol' log in information! What if she is a Bears fan in disguise? What if she is an old castoff of Aaron Rodgers' and wants revenge? Uh-oh, what have I gotten myself into?

Here goes:

I have grown up in Milwaukee and grew up a Green Bay Packers fan. My earliest memory of the Packers goes back to when I was 6 years old running around the basement of a family friends house with my sisters dressed in a Packers cheerleading outfit waving around my pom-poms as the Packers play in Super Bowl XXXI. The Packers have had their phenomenal seasons and there not-so-great seasons, but through it all Packers fans across Wisconsin have stuck by their side and supported them. At the end of last year and beginning of this year us fans went through a lot with the news of Brett Favre retiring and then deciding to come back. We all cried along with Brett as he made his farewell speech, and then we all got excited at the thought of him coming back. I think we all would have liked to see him play another season. He is a living legend that we watched break record after record. I have had a Farve jersey since as long as I can remember and have attended numerous Packer games in the “Frozen Tundra” at Lambeau Field; games were it has been so cold I could see my breath or feel my fingers or toes. Walking up to the stadium and feeling the rush of game time is so exciting.

I was a little unsure of Aaron Rodgers being our quarterback. I said he would have some pretty big shoes to fill, and I think that he has done a pretty good job at it so far. I must say he is no Brett Favre, but I am definitely starting to warm up to him. It might be a little unfair to compare him to Favre seeing what an amazing quarterback he is, but after being a Farve fan for so many years it is kind of hard to just start liking someone else all of a sudden. I think it is only fair to give Rodgers the chance to show us all what he is made of. Now as far as Farve playing for the New York Jets, I was pretty heartbroken at first. Watching him play with another team it almost seemed like he was betraying us! I understand his love of the game and desire to come back. Since the Packers weren't interested in taking him back, he really had no choice but to find another team to play for. I guess on the other hand if he is going to play for someone else I would rather it be the Jets instead of someone like the Chicago Bears or Minnesota Vikings.

I already have my Packers tickets for the Carolina Panthers game on November 30th. I think it will be a great end to my Thanksgiving weekend. This will be my husband's first Packers game ever, and my first game seeing Rodgers. I am really looking forward to being at Lambeau. The tailgating, the beer, the face paint, crazy hats and gear! Packer fans are definitely a loud and crazy fun bunch! No matter what happens I will always be a Packer fan. I have grown up with the Packers and you will always find me either at the game or in front of a big screen TV watching it. I am one of those die hard Packer Fans!!!

Just out of Reach for the Packers

I can't say yesterday's Green Bay Packers vs. Tennessee Titans game was a bad one. On the contrary; the game was rough and tumble, down and dirty football. The Packers just came up a little short. Losing in overtime is a better scenario than going down to Nashville and getting smoked by a 7-0 team. Rodgers and the team showed the world what kind of players they are. That teamwork brought them awfully close to handing the Titans their first loss, but it just wasn't in the cards.

The Packers held the Titans to just 3 points off of two turnovers. That's impressive. What wasn't all that impressive was the play calling at the end of the game. I think the coaching staff forgot they were playing an undefeated team away from Lambeau. The Titans were going to score in overtime. The Titans were going to play to win at the end of the fourth quarter. The Packers should have gone for it on fourth down. What can you say? The game was competitive and fun to watch. It was terrific to hear the crowd noise escalate when the Titans were on 3rd down. Good for you Packers fans to take the road trip and support the team!

Another loud one coming up at the Metrodome next week. I think the Packers have a solid chance. Then we can put the beat down on the crippling Chicago Bears the following week.

Even with the loss, this game Sunday fired me up.

This weekend marks the return of Al Harris and safety Atari Bigby to the Packers roster. Both had been out with injuries, but now are cleared to play. Another important addition to the green and gold is Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy's newborn daughter Gabrielle a week ago. Talk about nice timing! Born the week of the bye - impressive!

The return of these two vip's will certainly compensate for any lost momentum the team suffered from the bye week. A healthy, complete team is a winning team. Take a look at the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots.

With the Tennessee Titans' win Monday against the faltering Indianapolis Colts, it remains true that the Packers will be going in to Music City looking to give the team their first loss of the 2008 NFL Season. A feat that should be met, not easily, but the Packers could catch the Titans in auto-pilot, not taking the 4-3 Packers seriously. Titans' quarterback Kerry Collins hasn't been sacked in their last 5 games. I am hopeful guys like Aaron Kampman, Cullen Jenkins and Charles Woodson put and end to this streak.

The Fab Five receivers are all in for the game as well Sunday, lead by the ever-reliable Donald Driver. Should make some interesting play calling to keep the Titans on their toes.

Packers Bye Week Well-Timed

The Green Bay Packers have had this past week to rest their weary bones and prepare for a tough competition against an undefeated Tennessee Titans team. I suspect there will be a great deal of green and gold in the stands at LP Field, knowing the history of Packers fans willingness to travel. With a surprise win against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday, the Packers are in a position to make their mark in this 2008 season with a win against the Titans.

This win was just what I needed to seal the deal with Rodgers. I should say this win coupled with the little telephone call Brett Favre made to Lions'-ex Matt Millen. While it may not be true that Favre discussed any Packers plays, it still keeps that sour taste in my mouth. Aaron Rodgers has put together some solid performances, even in the 3 losses, he has played well. Confidence is high.

With Al Harris' return from a spleen tear, this team is going places. To think my expectations were pitifully low early in the season. I should be ashamed. I do wish Favre well with the Jets, but have moved on to #12.

The Packers lost to the Titans in the preseason, though only by 2 points. And how much does the preseason even reflect the regular season? I think these teams will split their meetings this year, with the Packers winning the more important of the match-ups.

"Brett Favre has been placed on the Green Bay Packers' roster following his reinstatement by the National Football League."

Interesting developments over the weekend. The Minnesota Vikings don't want him. The Green Bay Packers are gonna make him duke it out with Aaron Rodgers for the position of starting quarterback. What? And have Favre play all the downs in the preseason games? That is interesting. Should make the availability of preseason Packers tickets a little light if you get Favre playing for $40!

I was giving my boy the COLD should for a month or so. I am ashamed of myself. All of this love and devotion turned sour with one little itch. Poor Brett. I will scratch your itch. Good luck at making Aaron run for the AFC.

This isn't the Soap Opera I Anticipated

Since my last post, a lot of you-know-what has hit the fan. It is all rather unbelievable. Retired Green Bay Packers' quarterback Brett Favre wants an unconditional release from his contract with the Pack. Wow. This is terribly depressing. What once was a beautiful relationship filled with love and support has turned sour.

Favre who retired fair and square has said he changed his mind and wants to play football. Well, fella, you have had, as the Packers say, numerous chances to come back and play for the green and gold. Each time you said no, no, retirement is for me.

Some say for all the time and energy I have devoted to this guy, I have turned a cold shoulder quickly. If it turns out the Packers made him rush to retirement and the writing was on the wall, well then, maybe I side with Brett, but it appears as though the quarterback had a chance to change his mind and he didn't take it.

As of a few minutes ago, apparently Packers' General Manager Ted Thompson said maybe Favre could come back and play second string behind Aaron Rodgers. If it was ugly before, this statement is off the charts.

And these are the days of our lives....

Packers Family Night Tickets Still Available

Should we question why Packers Family Night Tickets haven't sold out yet or should we thank our lucky stars that so many tickets have sold? Packers fans are missing Favre, but interested in supporting new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. You can still buy end zone tickets for the Sunday, August 3 scrimmage for face value through the Packers ticket office at Lambeau Field or through Ticketmaster. Another point this brings up is the Sunday night aspect; in years' past the typically sold-out event is held on a Saturday evening. Usually a better night for families, especially those who may travel to Lambeau Field. Nonetheless, if you can get your kids in their best packers gear and spend some quality time with them introducing them to the game of football, you won't regret the $8 ticket price. That's right, Packers tickets for $8. You will blow three times that on a new hat for the game!

Rodgers: "Human Jugs Machine"

In a recent interview Greg Jennings said the following about his new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, "He has a cannon. We call him the 'Human Jugs Machine. He throws it like a Jugs machine every time." Only on ESPN would this statement not create a little giggle among readers.

Bottom line though for Green Bay Packers fans is the fact that this statement was made at all. Players are saying that they knew all along that Rodgers can throw the ball, even if he will always be compared to that pesty #4. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said that for the past 3 years they have been working to drop his ball carriage, a trait Rodgers picked up in college at Cal State.

One good thing to this transition is that Rodgers isn't brand new to the team, he has been Packer for years and is a familiar face in the locker room and at Lambeau Field.

Who is Pro Bowl Cornerback Al Harris?

The guy is more than just a Packers player with dreadlocks. He hasn't missed an NFL game since the 1998 NFL season. Voted to play and start in the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl, Packers fans are happy to have such a quality cornerback on board. That said, Harris did have a tough game on his hands in the NFC Championship loss at Lambeau this past January. Harris was matched up with New York Giants' Plaxico Burress in what became such a heartbreaking loss for the Packers players and fans. Burress just had the game of his life and Harris just couldn't get the elevation to beat him.

One team had to lose that game.

Moving on to the upcoming season, Al Harris is ready for action. Along with Charles Woodsen and a few other vets, Harris will be relied upon to help lead the rookies. Harris has played in every game since he came to the Packers in 2003. That alone sets a nice example of toughness, both mentally and physically. With his bump-and-run style, Harris ensured his place in the record books with the Packers in a Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks in 2004 when in overtime, he intercepted Matt Hasselback's pass for a touchdown. Having been at that game, I will say that I will NEVER forget how great that moment was. The crowd was CRAZY!

Packers History Could Help in No-Cap Future

In 2010, the salary cap in the NFL, which had been in place since 1993, will be going bye-bye, allowing big time players to ask for some big time cash. The chatter with regard to this development and it's effect on the Packers chances to compete is bleak. With team owners like Jerry Jones, Daniel Snyder, Bob Kraft, each with very deep pockets, it may be a challenge for the league's only community-owned, non profit team to compete.

The Green Bay Packers current roster and contracts already have an hint of the cap elimination. For example, Aaron Rodgers will have his shot this fall to step in to Brett Favre's shoes as the Packers quarterback, if all goes well, Rodgers' current contract is through 2009, allowing for some tough negotiations ahead for the team and a potential windfall for Rodgers. I have no argument with that. Rodgers has waited patiently for his shot and if he performs, he deserves to get paid. The question is, will the Packers be signing his paycheck in 2010, or will it be for a rival team with unlimited funds?

This is not to say the Packers organization hasn't planned for this day. For years, they have stayed under the cap, storing funds for such a "rainy" day.

My real point here is to address the one thing the Green Bay Packers can offer, other teams cannot. The mystique of the team, the field they play on, the Coach Lombardi factor and the rest of the storied history of the franchise. Sure players will end up living part of the year in the NFL's smallest market, but they will literally be THE biggest fish in the pond. Green Bay treats their Packers players like gold. Green Bay supports the team year round, showing up for all of the practices, scrimmages and related events with bells on. My bet is that there will still be a number of solid players who will sacrifice some cash to experience the opportunity to wear Packers' Green and Gold each Sunday.

Packers Give Favre His Old Locker

Rather than creating mass hysteria as to which Packers player would next use the locker once used by former Packers quarterback Brett Favre, the team has decided to just give it to #4. As players starting coming in to Green Bay and streaming in to the locker room this Spring, none touched Favre's old locker, in fact most took pictures. ESPN even created a build your own Favre Locker shrine on their site. The team is going to have a new locker built and installed by the end of July, by the time practices are in full swing for the fall NFL season.

I will now await the very special day, when Brett and Deanna invite me over to their pad for a cookout and a tour of their decked out rec room. They have to have some time on their hands now. I will bring a nice dish to pass.

Packers Tickets Around for Brown County Residents

The Green Bay Packers ticket office has offered up 4,000 Packers tickets to each home game at Lambeau Field to the local county residents via a lottery. This system has been in place since the renovation of Lambeau a few years ago, making many local fans very happy, but this year there is a change. The Packers may need to hold a third lottery to complete the sale of all the Brown County-designated seats. I wouldn't necessarily chalk this entirely up to the retirement of Quarterback Brett Favre, I think there are some additional factors like the cost of gas and milk these days. That along with with some gambling that ticket buyers may be able to score reasonably priced Packers tickets through friends or local ticket brokers. There are a lot of unknowns about the upcoming season. Expectations remain high even without Favre, but if the Packers get off to a 0-3 record, I can assure you Packers ticket prices will reach a decade low. I prefer the flip side, but now for the later games, as they are cheap, like $100 for end zone seats, and watch the Packers, lead by Aaron Rodgers clinch the NFC Central in an ice-cold December game at Lambeau. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Packers Herron Saves the Day

Noah Herron, Green Bay Packers running back, saved the day when some scumbags broke in his Green Bay home this past Friday night. After hearing glass break in the basement, Herron took a bedpost from his room and got the two guys. One of these dirtballs remains in the hospital and the other was caught by police. Noah Herron saves the day! There had been a string of burglaries in the area which now hopefully will come to an end. Thankfully the police got it right and had absolutely no reason to give Herron a hard time, saying his use of force was reasonable and justified given the intrusion. I will say that is was pretty crazy that he went wandering downstairs with a bedpost, which wouldn't hold up in a gun fight. I am glad the good guy won.

Packers' Green Machine

There is a group of Green Bay Packers players who call themselves the Green Machine, which has nothing to do with football. The Green Machine is a basketball team comprised of Packers players, organized by Packers' wide receiver Ruvell Martin, who received all-state and all-conference accolades in basketball while in high school. While fun is a high priority of the machine, raising money for various charities is the top priority for the guys. It appears that Martin is involved with many charities, donating time and money to the likes of the United Way and the American Red Cross. This type of character can also be seen on the football field.

Receivers Shaun Bodiford and James Jones, cornerback Tramon Williams, offensive tackle Orrin Thompson and running back Noah Herron are all regulars on the Green Machine team. It is to be commended that these guys take their own time to drive around the state to help raise money for those in need. During halftime, the players are happy to shake a few hands and sign a few autographs for the kids in attendance. Their opponents have ranged from school-age kids to former Wisconsin Badgers basketball players. With a solid record, the Green Machine best not think of quitting their day job!

Want to Stalk Favre?

If you want to head to the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, NV, you might get a glimpse of Brett playing at the celebrity golf tournament, the American Century Championship July 8-13. Considering I wouldn't have known a lick about this event if it weren't for Favre participating, organizers are on the right track having a guy like him attend. They are reporting that they anticipate selling more tickets than last year simply due to the retired quarterback's playing. A nice getaway in Tahoe? Count me in. I will meet you at the 19th hole, Brett!

Packers in top third of ESPN Power Rankings

From ESPN, the following is how they see the upcoming NFL season to shake out. At the end of the 2007 season, they had the Green Bay Packers sitting at 5, and beginning this season at 10. Given the retirement of Brett Favre, I will take a 10 any day. That is a good thing. The Packers were solid on both sides of the ball last season and new quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been pretty good the few times he has hit the field for the Packers, most noteably was against the Dallas Cowboys last season when Favre went out with an injury.

ESPN lists their ranking for 2008 first, then in parenthesis is where the team landed in the rankings at the end of last season. We still see the Patriots at the top of the list. I guess that videotaping stuff doesn't help afterall?

Packers Family Night 2008

Packers fans will get to enjoy the green and gold on this years' Family Night scrimmage at Lambeau Field Sunday, August 3, 2008. It is a great event to get ready for the regular NFL season. The Packers offense plays the defense to what usually is a sold out crowd. This is the NFL's most popular scrimmage. The nicely priced $8 Packers tickets for the Family Night event go on sale June 14th through Ticketmaster. Packers fans are limited to 8 tickets per person.

This will then mark the first stadium full of fans since 1992 without a Mr. Brett Favre in the building. Crazy.

Take your kids to Lambeau for this great Packers Family Night. You gotta start 'em young. Go Pack!

I like my Favre jersey, but wearing it every day for 1,581 days? This story hit elsewhere last week, but I didn't want it to go without mentioning it. This young boy from Connecticut wore his #4 jersey since receiving it as a gift Christmas 2003 up until April 23, 2008. Yes, it was washed and repaired regularly, but this young Green Bay Packers fan really took the extra step in showing his love. And to think some "tough guys" will poo-poo wearing gear even to a game!

One Special Locker

So the story goes that weeks and weeks after Brett Favre retired from the Green Bay Packers, his locker sits as it did when he last was in Green Bay. No one wants to be the guy to take over a legend's locker. The Packers don't want to take his stuff down. Looks like Favre's locker will just become a bit of a shrine I guess. Word is that some of the rookies who came in for their minicamp were taking pictures of said locker. I certainly would and I don't play the game...Good for these new kids to come in with the understanding that they are coming to Green Bay at a pretty cool time. They respect what was and the years of history the team has compiled, but still know they have an opportunity to create the start of another great run. Maybe even a run to the post-season again. Wouldn't it be great if the Packers play host to another NFC Championship this coming January?

Favre on Fox?

It would be so simple to do a play on words with the rumor that former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre is in talks with Fox to add his commentary to their Sunday morning studio show. I mean the guy is Foxy, right?

I guess this would be a fair compromise. If we can't enjoy Favre in his green and gold uniform each Sunday, we can get a dose of his casual attire and witty remarks on our local Fox affiliate. The news of these talks was leaked during a speech given by former Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer. It is Switzer who may get the boot to make room for Favre. Interesting.

Packers Tickets Scam; Dude Busted

Last season, Ben Huettl screwed a bunch of Packers fans out of the Packers tickets they thought they purchased through his website, lambeautickets.com. In fact, these folks did purchase the tickets, Huettl just chose to take the money and never deliver on the tickets. Nice.

Lesson to people looking to buy Green Bay Packers tickets, or really any tickets to a sold out event; be certain you are buying from a reputable source. Ticket brokers who are reliable are members of the NATB, on Ebay be sure to buy only from sellers with high ratings and a large quantity of transactions. Another lesson is to do your homework. I heard a story of someone looking for Packers tickets on Craigslist, saw some he was interested in and the seller said for him to meet her where ever and she would give him his tickets, now, in May. This is impossible. Packers tickets, nor really any NFL tickets are printed by the teams yet for the upcoming 2008 season. This could have been a bad deal, but thankfully something caused this craigslist.com shopper to be suspicious.

Back to this nice chap Huettl. While he wasn't prosecuted, he has agreed to comply with a number of state sanctions including no options of running a website. He paid the money back to the Packers fans, who ended up buying tickets at a discount from a friendly local Wisconsin ticket broker. The discount was offered when this story was shared. Sounds like a nice deal in a bad situation.

The lesson is to do your homework, work with reputable resellers and understand the delivery on Packers tickets.

Packers Draft 2008

I will not claim to have any sort of original thought on the NFL draft picks made by Ted Thompson and the Green Bay Packers. For the first time in 22 years, the Packers did not pick in the first round. In later rounds, they picked two quarterbacks, Louisville's Brian Brohm in the second round and LSU's Matt Flynn in the seventh. The Packers haven't picked two QB's in a draft since years before Favre even came to the team. So like 1984 or something.

I would presume these two, along with starting Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, are each fantasising about becoming the "next Brett Favre". Anyone would I suppose, especially football players with all that machismo at play. I am not looking for another Favre, I am looking for a winning season following Favre's retirement and a decent price for my Packers tickets.

Who is this Brohm guy? It seems like buzz has surrounded him and his performance on the field since the guy was in high school. As far as his response to being drafted by the Packers, Brohm said, "It was a long wait, but I'm just excited to be in the NFL and to be with the Green Bay Packers. I'm just pumped up. I want to come in and compete and be the best player I can be. I know they have a good team and I just want to do what I can to help out."

Favre on Letterman

What a treat that was! When Brett Favre, dressed in a nice pair of jeans, and a brand new linen jacket (maybe a blend, but nice, nonetheless) walked on to the Late Show with David Letterman stage, one could hear a collective sigh from the ladies in America.

He is much-loved and rarely seen in an interview setting. Letterman was great, pushing for information on Favre signing his retirement papers. Favre said he just didn't do it, not to read in to anything and that Letterman "must watch a lot of TV". Favre confirmed that the fact that the Green Bay Packers didn't recruit wide receiver Randy Moss had nothing to do with his decision not to play quarterback for the team. Letterman was so complementary, as he should be, to Favre and his accomplishments on and off the football field. I literally had a smile on my face from beginning to end. My two favorite salt and peppered-hair dudes!

Daunte Culpepper. A Green Bay Packer?

Rumor has it the Packers are looking to bring in a backup quarterback with some experience for Aaron Rodgers. With that being the case, Culpepper fits the bill, but this is pigs-flying kind of stuff. Daunte Culpepper played quarterback for longtime Packers rival to the north, the Minnesota Vikings for years. He was recruited by the Vikings in 1999 and played with such Packers-haters as Randy Moss, Michael Bennett and Chris Carter. Many trips to Lambeau Field must have affected his feeling to wear green and gold? The real question is why do the Packers think they need a back up with experience? Do we not recall the comment former-Packers quarterback, one Mr. Brett Favre said? He said, and I quote, “It would be hard to pass up, I guess. … It’s only speculating. I think the world of that team. I had a lot of fun, not only this year, but over my career. Those guys I played with this past year, a lot of young guys, a lot of fun. … And if that opportunity presented itself and they did call, it would be tempting. And I very well could be enticed to do it.” Enticing to us the fans too! Sorry Aaron, this doesn't come from a place of uncertainty of your ability more of a place of love for Favre.

BRETT FAVRE IS GOING TO BE ON LETTERMAN

I can't think of a better pairing. Two dudes, both with a special place in my heart going toe to toe in a wit-filled discussion on retirement, no retirement, filing paperwork, or not filing. Letterman is a huge Indianapolis Colts fan; he likes football and is always a great interviewer when it comes to professional athletes.

Having been to see Letterman a couple times in my life, I would have to say, sitting in that ice cold studio and seeing former Green Bay Packers quarterback, BRETT FAVRE come out as one of his guests for the night would be way crazy. (My best was Kanye West and Ray Romano.) I wonder what he will wear. My money is on some old jeans and a button down shirt with a ratty t-shirt underneath. Super hot. Sorry Deanna. This is, presumably, one of my last opportunities to ramble on.

Brett Favre will appear as a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman a week from today, Thursday, April 24.

Good Stuff. Seriously, super good stuff. Something to look forward to post-summer in the Midwest. A winter break to New Orleans in November to watch the Packers take on the New Orleans Saints. Packers Preseason Schedule

We already know the Packers will face the Vikings at Lambeau to open the 2008 NFL season, but what we now can add to that is the preseason opponents. On Monday, August 11, the Packers play the Cincinnati Bengals at home. Then they are on the road for a game at the San Francisco 49ers and at the Denver Broncos Invesco Field at Mile High, or whatever that place is called now. The last game before we can all get REALLY excited for the regular NFL season to begin is against Tennessee back at home. Have we played the Tennessee Titans in every preseason for the last 5 years? Not that there is anything wrong with it...What is so right about it is the price of preseason Packers tickets! These are the games to take kids to and not feel like you broke the bank! I would suspect the first home game will offer up the least spendy tickets as it is a Monday night which leaves a lot of people out of the picture. Speaking of pictures, check out Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Oh, to be a fly on their shoulders. Or wherever.

If I have to wake up one more morning hearing the local radio guys talking about the latest rumor involving my Brett Favre Quarterbacking for another NFL team, I might just lose it. It started with the rumor that Favre hadn't filed his retirement papers and might go play for the San Francisco 49ers. Then he was going to play for the St. Louis Rams or the San Diego Chargers. NOW, it appears that they say Favre is going to bookend his football career with the Atlanta Falcons. Say it isn't so. This cannot go on much longer. We have the announcement of the Packers Vikings Monday Night Football game opening the 2008 NFL season in Lambeau Field on September 8. This news has Packers fans riled up, but with the excitement comes the stress of our former lover cheating on us. RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR OWN EYES.

Packers GM NFL Executive of the Year

Sporting News magazine conducted a recent poll and named our Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson as the NFL Executive of the Year. Sounds about right, given the unexpected year the Packers had!

Ted Thompson's other titles include executive vice president and director of football operations for the Packers. He received the most votes (19) among the 48 votes cast by NFL GM's and other executives for the George Young NFL Executive of the Year.

Jerry Reese, the New York Giants' general manager, came in second in the poll with nine votes.
Sporting News said Thompson had a good eye for talent and the ability to maintain the right mix of players on the Packers. Also mentioned is the fact that Thompson hired current Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, who won the division championship in just his second year as head coach. He didn't pull off the NFC Championship, but he came darn close and for that Packernation is grateful.

Hopefully this picture of Thompson and Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will continue the legacy.

Free Agency Moves for Packers

The Green Bay Packers agreed to a two-year, US$5.4-million deal with free-agent linebacker Brandon Chillar. Big news for the Packers who rarely deal in free agency.

Free-agent linebacker, Brandon Chillar has just signed with the Green Bay Packers for two years and $5.4 million, plus incentives. Chillar comes to Green Bay from the St. Louis Rams and will likely compete with Brady Poppinga for the starting spot. He was drafted by the Rams in 2004 from UCLA.

At six-foot-three, 242-pounds, Chillar started 15 games last season with the Rams, made 65 tackles, including 52 solo tackles. Brandon Chillar had a career-high 2 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles last season.

Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (that hurts to write) may have had the best teacher to help prepare him for the upcoming NFL season, but until he takes snaps in back to back games, I will be cautiously optimistic.

Another 13-3 season for the Green Bay Packers would be unreal. Playing host to another NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field would be unbelievable. Ushering in a replacement for beloved #4 in Rodgers and having it go swimmingly would be a dream come true. A dream I wasn't planning on having for another year or two, but I will go with it if it's what makes Brett happy.

The Sports Illustrated Commemorative issue is on the newstands and on ebay and on my nightstand. As someone else wrote, "a super hot dude just retired from the NFL". I concur.

Day One Post Favre Press Conference

WOW. Once set to music by my local Fox affiliate, the Brett Favre retirement press conference brought me straight to tears. I kept my composure at the office as we all listened to Favre speak. Favre was so great. He spoke from the heart, without a word written in front of him, he answered the reporters' questions honestly and unapologetically. Favre said if it just required him on the football field Sunday afternoons, no NFL player would ever retire, but the mental time and energy fully preparing for a successful NFL season was something Favre couldn't commit to. I give him credit for being so honest with himself. Checking his ego. What ego I ask myself? He has been in a unique position, playing arguably the toughest position in all of sports, for the MOST beloved team in all of sports. Ok, in all of football. Yes, that includes the Cowboys. Please.

Brett Favre even said the pressure of this last surprisingly great season piled up and piled up each week so much so that when a game ended one week he started mentally preparing and watching film for the next week's opponent immediately. The sign of a true competitor, yes. But exhausting for sure.

It was great to see Deanna Favre there. She sure has been through a lot. I hope they find their forthcoming quality time together fulfilling. Nothing like retirement to bring a couple together. Right, Mom and Dad?

Now we have to sit and wait. Wait and sit. For Aaron Rodgers. For the Packers. For the first Green Bay Packers game without Brett Favre.

Brett Favre Press Conference

Reports are that Brett Favre will hold a press conference Thursday to discuss his retirement from football and the Green Bay Packers. Maybe Favre will have a change of heart between now and 11am cst Thursday? Maybe he will hit the podium and say, "Just kidding guys; one more year". That would be awfully crazy, but a welcomed remark. It is a long shot.

The media coverage of Favre's retirement is never ending. Not that I am complaining, but one has to be impressed with the work that print reporters and videographers have done to mark Favre's accomplishments. Hours and hours of primetime television hours were dedicated to his retirement. Thanks to my DVR I will be in good shape for my Favre fix for years to come. Seeing Favre's fashion through the years is a trip! The rolled-up, cut off jean shorts, the sport coat when he announced his rehab trip to the casual fashion of recent years is enjoyable.

I wish Favre and his family nothing but the best, but I sure would love to see a change of heart??? Come on Brett, one more year?

The cruel, cruel world. The news came as I was pulling in to my parking lot at work. What a wonderful way to start a work day! With the terribly sad news of my quarterback, Brett Favre deciding to retire from football and the Green Bay Packers. He has led the team from all of these years. When he first hit the field for the Packers I was graduating from high school and now look at me, all mature and responsible and so on. Just kidding, but when you look at what you have done in your personal life since 1992, it is crazy to think that each of those years, Brett Favre was our quarterback. Packers fans the world over are shedding a collective tear today.

When I heard the news that the Packers site posted the news that Brett Favre was retiring I was immediately hit with the such sadness. What would I do? What would my future hold? Would Aaron Rodgers ever come close to filling the void left by #4? Would Packers tickets become the easiest get in town? Would Favre want to hang out with me in his spare time?

So many questions. So few answers. The Packers people immediately said the article posted was something they have had "ready" at the end of the last few seasons. It wasn't to be taken as insider information at all, and that a formal announcement from Favre is expected to come within the next week or so.

The Green Bay Packers' new president and CEO, Mark Murphy, earlier this week said that he believes Packers quarterback Brett Favre will return next season.

If you are a resident of Brown County, WI, and not currently a Green Bay Packers Season ticket holder, now is the time to register your name for a chance to purchase tickets to a 2008 Packers game at Lambeau Field. This will be the 6th year 4000 tickets for each home game will be made available for purchase for those fans who helped pay with their tax dollars for Lambeau Field's expansion of a few years ago.

While they aren't the best seats in the house, the 300 level seating the Packers make available are certainly better than no seat at all.

If you have already registered in the past, you don't need to again. If you haven't, then go to the Packers Pro Shop, the service desk in Lambeau Field's Atrium or the Packers ticket office for a form to fill out. Hurry though, you have to have your information in their hands by March 12, 2008.

Ten Things to do in Wisconsin Prior to the Packer Season

At first I thought I would be a real smart ass for this little time-killer. Given the fact that I am looking out of my window at ten feet of snow and a forecast of 7 degrees, being sincere will take a little more effort. As a lifelong Wisconsinite, or Sconny, I appreciate this place, but can name a million other places I would like to set up shop. There are Packer bars all over, right? No Lambeau Field though without a flight from the beach. So until I can enjoy Brett Favre suited up in his green and gold and watch the Packers stomp all over the competition in fall, here is what I would recommend checking out in my part of Wisconsin - Brew City.

10. World's Largest Music Festival Summerfest will eat up 10 days. Make that 11 to allow for recovery.

9. Train for Milwaukee's Lakefront Marathon. I say this every year. It's like The Secret.

8. Do some real damage at Anthroplogie in Milwaukee's Third Ward. There isn't a better store.

7. Given the kid-factor, I anticipate numerous Milwaukee County Zoo and Betty Brinn Children's Museum trips.

6. Harley Davidson's 105th Anniversary Party will be super fun! Bruce Springsteen is playing on Saturday, August 30, 2008 outside the Summerfest grounds.

5. Anticipate the Milwaukee Bucks moves in the NBA draft. Without hope you have nothing. Who said that?

4. Give yourself a little love. Not like that....Take a road trip to remind yourself of that special love you have for Lambeau Field. Road trip to Geeebzzz and have lunch at Curly's Pub.

Favre and McCarthy Win NFL 101 Awards

Announced earlier this week, Packers quarterback Brett Favre and Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy were selected to win NFL 101 Awards. I must live under a rock because I have never heard of these awards, which some consider to be the fanciest, classiest sports award event. The NFL 101 Award began in 1969 and it's recipients include the finest NFL players. The 101 in the name refers to the 101 sports writers and and broadcasters who vote for the winners.

While the Packers are 2007's NFC North Division Champions, they aren't packing their bags for Arizona. They gave us a good run, but seriously I don't think I can wait until fall. What to do. What to do.

Well I just killed five minutes reading this article on the Packers website 2007 Regular Season: By the Numbers. That was interesting. I can't afford to book a trip to Hawaii to watch the Pro Bowl. Not that Brett Favre ever goes anyway. And not that if he did, he and I would catch a beer together anyway.

Word on the street is that Favre and Packers Coach Mike McCarthy will be continuing discussions on whether Favre would be retuning to play another year in Green Bay, in the NFL. Hopefully this won't be a drawn out discussion. I need to know whether or not to buy a new #4 jersey for next years' games. I REALLY don't want to buy a #12 Aaron Rodgers jersey. No offense guy...you understand.

A key point for next season include expectations and how very different they will be coming off a 13-3 season vs. an 8-8 season the year prior. The Packers schedule will likely include more Sunday, Monday and Thursday night games; which are fun for the fans, but must be tough on the team as their recovery time is shortened. That said, if this NFL Network deal isn't worked out by then, there will continue to be upset Packers fans around the country.

No it doesn't involve any of the Packers players or coaching staff; it is all about me and my desire to represent the older generation of Bikini Girls at Lambeau Field when my Green Bay Packers hit the field in August. Some people mark weight loss goals with the changing of the calender year, I am going to do it with the Packers loss to the Giants in the NFC F*&@NG Championship Game at Lambeau Field this past Sunday. I can't get over it. It just would have been so sweet. As someone in my office just pointed out, in some sort of weird way, it is sure nice these girls are fit and represent Wisconsin in a better light than most. Do you think Maxim likes Bikini Moms?

The bright side of this is that I believe it is almost a sure thing that Brett Favre will return to lead the green and gold on one more run for the Super Bowl. So, who has my Packers tickets for September? I will give you a bikini....Bueller?

The Packers are still playing football deep in to January. Brett Favre's #4 jersey is tops in sales. The Pack has won a million of their last million and three games. They are America's team. More importantly they aren't the Minnesota Vikings. Sure the two teams will meet twice a season for decades, but let's just see if the Viks ever reach the status of the Green and Gold. Minnesota Vikings tickets sell for as little as ten bucks as soon as they go 0-1 at the beginning of a season. Nice.

Packers in NFC Championship Game!!

At the beginning of the NFL season I sure wouldn't have thought I would be writing an entry about the our Green Bay Packers hosting the NFC Championship game at Lambeau Field. It is fate. Favre, 10 years, the Patriots (potentially), Brady and Favre; the whole thing. The Packers are favored to win the game against the Giants. Football fans are heading in to the frozen tundra already as the national press is reporting on all of the activities already underway. Fans from warm-weather areas are going to have to come prepared as the game time temperature in Green Bay is to be zero degrees and that is not taking the wind chill in to effect. Ice Bowl III. History in the making.

Seattle Fans Pick up Packers tickets for Saturday

Looks like we will have quite a nice game on our hands come Saturday as the Seattle Seahawks, coached by former Packers' coach Mike Holmgren come to Green Bay. As the game ended in Seattle this weekend, west-coasters were online booking flights and Packers vs Seahawks tickets like mad. We all know that the Packers team coached by Holmgren went all the way to the Super Bowl back in 1996. The ol' tale of teacher and student. Coach Holmgren reeling in the wild ways of young quarterback Brett Favre #4. The folks in Green Bay named a street after the guy! Holmgren Way! Watching their game against the Washington Redskins made me a little nervous; they didn't look bad let's put it that way.

The NFC Divisional game between the Packers and Seahawks have fans in Wisconsin FIRED UP and buying Packers tickets! Although many seem to be looking right past this game, assuming a win and a Dallas loss over the Giants. While I am right in line with that school of thought, my brain tells me not to get too excited, that a NFC Championship game in Green Bay is probably not going to happen. Checking out various Dallas Cowboys' blogs isn't as entertaining as reading Green Bay Packers blogs, that's for sure! The Cowboys can beat the Giants this time just as they did twice this season. Maybe third time is a charm? At this moment the Cowboys are an 8 point favorite. Hmmmm, just like the Packers are at home against Seattle. Oddsmakers busy or coincidence? Either way, I do hope one of their predictions is wrong.

Green Bay Packers Tickets Priced Right

Without experience buying Packers tickets, one might think Packers playoff tickets are double or triple the going rate for regular season Packers tickets, but it isn't the case for the NFC Divisional Playoff game Saturday, January 12 at Lambeau Field.

Looking around the secondary ticket market, I have seen Packers playoff tickets going for a reasonable, though not "cheap", $194 per ticket on sites like GreenBayPackersTicket.net. Given that there isn't a bad seat in Lambeau, I would be totally cool with an entry level ticket. People are going to be so stoked with game time at a tailgate-perfect time of 3:30 in the afternoon. You can move from Bloody Mary's in the morning to brats to beer in the afternoon sun. Now the odds are that it won't be as sunny in Green Bay for the playoff game as it was for this shot of Favre and Driver earlier in the season. You can't bring too many hand and foot warmers for the game!

Packers Pep Rally Tickets

The Green Bay Packers ticket office made 15,000 tickets available for the Pep Rally set for Friday, January 11th from 6-9p in the north end zone of Lambeau Field. It goes without saying, that the Packers Pep Rally is sold out.

For Packers fans going to the Divisional Playoff game the following day, but unable to make this event the night prior, it will be televised in Green Bay and a few other stations around Wisconsin.

One Quarter is all Favre Needed

He was a man on a mission. Favre took to Lambeau Field Sunday ready to prove to the fans that it truly was the weather in Chicago the week prior that had him and the rest of the Packers all loused up. Within the first minute of the second quarter, the Green Bay Packers went up over the Detroit Lions 21-3. The final score of the Lions Packers game was 34-13, ensuring the Packers end the regular 2007 NFL season with tying a franchise record with 13 overall wins. Ok, not as exciting a the New England Patriots 16 wins, but for me this was a GREAT football season, which doesn't have the finishing touches on it yet.

As far as football fashion goes, you will notice Favre improved his clothing options to a more updated white shirt which defenders weren't as able to pull on as we witnessed in the Packers Bears game. Favre just wore an old school T-shirt which stretched out as the Bears' linemen grabbed at him.

Packers to cage the Lions..and Tigers and Bears Oh My

Don't get me wrong. I am so very grateful for the wonderful Packers season and I seriously can't wait to settle in for the NFC Divisional Playoff game in LAMBEAU FIELD of all places coming up the weekend of January 12 -13. (Game day and time tbd in the coming week or so. It would be hysterical if the game falls at 3pm CST on Sunday, January 13, as the hot tween star, Hannah Montana will be taking the stage at Milwaukee's Bradley Center at 4p on the same day!)

Here is the issue. I can't get over the Packers performance in Chicago. The whole team, both sides of the ball, seemed totally out of it. Out of steam. Disinterested. Al Harris, who is usually so ROCK solid was so far off his opponent it was silly. Packers' Coach Mike McCarthy had some thoughts on his game plan, "I did not like some of the positions I put Brett in, in the second half of that game. I felt if we were able to line up and run the ball in a 30, 35-plus attempt game, that was clearly the course that I wanted to take. It did not work out that way." Again, the weather was out of control and I so feel for those guys just trying to move that odd shaped ball down the field, but guys, we need to see the passion heading in to this last regular season game and straight into the post-season. You have a first-round bye, home field advantage and the most-loyal, hard-core fans around supporting your journey to the Super Bowl.

So we sit two days before kickoff against the Detroit Lions and with an ass whoopin', I will calm down and feel WAY better about how January will go for MY, ok, OUR Green Bay Packers.

And as far as the picture goes for this post; I had to give my little butterfingers' quarterback a little jab. We will be back in full cutie, patootie mode after a win this weekend. K?

It took awhile, but I am back...Packers Superfandom Back at it

I just couldn't bring myself to write about the debauchery witnessed in Chicago Sunday when the Packers played the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. My first emotion was, "poor Brett, poor Packers, this weather is ridiculous - the wind is blowing a million miles an hour." Then reality set in, realizing the Chicago Bears and their Earl look-alike quarterback didn't seem to be having ANY of the problems the Green Bay Packers seemed to be having. Could the weather only be wreaking havoc on my green and gold? Were the football gods trying to say something after the Dallas Cowboys tease the night prior? The Panthers could have beat the stinkin' Cowboys only to have the Packers lose the next day. What would have been worse? I don't know. I guess in the end the important thing is that the Packers and Brett Favre put the beat down on the Detroit Lions when they come to Green Bay and play on Lambeau Field Sunday. The Packers fans and the Packers themselves need to feel the momentum again. The Super Bowl momentum. You know, just because the Cowboys have home field advantage should they make it to the NFC Championship game, doesn't guarantee them a win in the divisional playoff game. These two things are unrelated. It's a whole new game come January.

Speaking of January; Have you priced out your Green Bay Packers tickets for the NFC Divisional Playoff game? They aren't cheap, but they really aren't all that more expensive than the regular season Packers games have been this year. Should we be so lucky to witness the NFC Championship game in Lambeau; I would suspect Packers tickets to reach crazy numbers. Really though, can you put a price on fun?

Packers heading to St. Louis for a weekend romp

What do they say? What happens in St. Louis stays in St. Louis? Something like that. Let's hope the Packers leave the Rams in the dust on Sunday. You know, just to keep the ball rolling. You don't want to clinch the division then lay down. Considering the fact that if the Packers win the remaining three regular season NFL games, they will set a franchise record of 14 wins in the regular season. Pretty cool stuff considering the history.

The Green Bay Packers have won six of the last nine regular season games against St. Louis. However, the most recent contest, in 2006, the Packers came up short. Ya, that was a great time at Lambeau Field for me. You can't win them all and this season has MORE than made up for the start of the last couple Packers' seasons!

What else is going on in the NFL? Well, those pesky Dallas Cowboys are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles then have two games on the road to finish out their regular season. What are the odds they drop two? The Packers had things looking pretty good this past weekend, only to watch the Detroit Lions fall apart. Or was it that the Cowboys were that good? Knowing the Packers may be playing the Cowboys again for the NFC Championship title, I will go with the former.

What a great Packers game!

My husband came home with the biggest grin on his face after spending the day in Green Bay at Lambeau Field watching the Packers Raiders game. While I watched the Packer win on TV, all I could do was think of all the people who had Packers tickets to this game. Prior to the game you would think that this wouldn't be a "great" game given Favre's injury from the Packers Cowboys game coupled with the playoff picture looking pretty clear for the Packers, but fans experienced an AWESOME game filled with great plays on all sides of the field - offense, defense and special teams. Seeing the Packers have fun was so enjoyable, although I was a little worried when Mike McCarthy kept Favre in the game when the Packers held such a comfortable lead.

Brett Favre looked great. No obvious issues as far as his arm or shoulder goes. Speaking of looking great; have you seen the packers press conference after the game with Favre wearing his camouflage hat? Seriously. Wow. Few things beat a man in a nice suit and apparently one of them is a camo hat. Who knew?

It sure stunk to watch the score of the Detroit Lions Dallas Cowboys game at the bottom of my TV screen. Watch the lead slip, slip, slip away until finally the Cowboys eeaked out a win over the Lions. It was so close!! Yes, the Packers clinched the Division, but a Cowboys loss would have had them just a little bit closer to possibly hosting the NFC Division Championship game at Lambeau, if we would all be so lucky to even be playing in the game. Do you like the use of "we"?

And hey der guy, don't look now, but the Minnesota Vikings are trying to make something of their season. At minimum, it will give my friend to the north something to write about on his Minnesota Vikings blog. Of all the professional sports though, the NFL is the one which can change overnight, so I won't get too cocky about my NFC North Division Championship Green Bay Packers. No I won't.

(Will post picture asap) I guess after reading others' thoughts on the subject, the answer is yes. They say "uninspired choice", "what a joke", "surprise, an NFL player". WHATEVER. Brett Favre has lead this Packers team to a 10-2 record in a season he wasn't too certain would end with a .500 record. Brett Favre is THE face of the nation's NFL team. He has started every game for the Packers since 1992! That is so unparallelled it's crazy. Favre deserves this cover, this title and the Super Bowl ring he will earn in February! Brett Favre on Sidelines Doesn't Work for Me

I am so sad about last night's Packers Cowboys game. While I recognize there were some bright spots (Aaron Rodgers) for the Packers and the Dallas Cowboys are a darn good football team, it still is so disappointing. I don't have all the football lingo, but it sure seems like the game plan Mike McCarthy put together didn't make sense given the Packers lead the NFL in points after the throw. They don't need to throw the long ball so often. I guess that is where they saw some cracks in the Cowboys' defense. Unfortunately for the Packers, there were very few cracks in the Cowboys' offense. Terrell Owens and his stupid popcorn antics can take a long walk off a short pier. There was a little smile on my face when Mr. Butterfingers tossed up the sure thing catch in the end zone to my guy who happened to be having a tough night, Al Harris.

This game played out in many ways exactly as people had expected. Except for the Favre injury of course. No one speaks of such things happening. Right away it was all about scoring back and forth. Tony Romo hit a wall once Rodgers came in, but they were still able to hang on for the win.

Now it is a waiting game. Should Brett Favre rest for the Packers Raiders game regardless of how good his left shoulder and right arm feel? Should he suit up for one snap just to keep his 249 regular season starting record alive? Is this a game of team or individual accomplishments? I am conflicted. Having already bought my Packers tickets for the next game, I sure would selfishly like to see Brett play, but is it a smart move given the Packers 10-2 (that hurts to type) record and likely post-season play?

I might need a fresh cup of coffee to tackle the mess that was the NFL Network's attempt at broadcasting and announcing an NFL game. Off I go.

OMG I Could Hardly Sleep! It's GAME Day

Kickoff is in 5 hours. The Packers Cowboys game in Dallas at Texas Stadium marks another opportunity for Favre and the Packers to win a game down there. The last time a Packers team won there was in 1989. As the starting quarterback, Favre is 0-8 against the Dallas Cowboys when the Packers are the road team. Texas Stadium along with nine other stadiums are on Favre's list of zero wins thus far in his career. Earlier this season he was able to cross off the Kansas City Chiefs with a win November 4, 2007.

Tonight marks the second meeting of two 10-1 NFL teams in 37 years! When the Green Bay Packers win they will secure their spot in the post-season.

Sure it was close for awhile last Thursday and sure, it looked a little ugly in the first quarter, but bottom line, the Packers won and Favre won the Turkey trophy. The Green Bay Packers are, however, a little banged up. Charles Woodson has his toe issue. Hopefully a nice shot of magic NFL potion will help that. Right tackle Mark Tauscher sat out of practice this week to let his ankle rest. This Packers Cowboys game is so big I would think these guys will find a little something extra to gut it out.

Packers gear up to take on the Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers are ready to play their second game in a row on a Thursday as they head to Dallas to take on the Dallas Cowboys. WHAT A GAME! Both of these NFC teams sit at 10-1 heading in to the game. Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo, a Wisconsin native, grew up watching and idolizing Packers Quarterback Brett Favre. It will be a great matchup. Could even be a peak in to the NFC Championship game! Packers Cowboys tickets are going for a small fortune as fans of America's two teams buy their plane tickets to see this game firsthand. It will be a little warmer than the Ice Bowl I suppose. And Romo is ready to play better ball than he did earlier in the year.

NFL.com has a little post on "A Tale of Two Quarterbacks". Both awfully cute AND talented; but I gotta go with my boy Favre on this one. The Packers may be underdogs, but they have won 14 of their last 15 games, including a seven road game winning streak. They will keep this rolling on through the Lonestar State.

Oh, but wait - you might miss the game if you don't have the NFL Network or live in Milwaukee, Green Bay or Dallas. THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE NFL SEASON!! The NFL sure likes to play hardball. Yes, one can leave their comfy house and watch the game at local watering hole, but I can name a number of people I personally know that this is not an option.

There are few reasons to be thankful I like in Milwaukee. This Thursday, I will mark one of them as I watch the Packers embarrass the Cowboys from the comfort of my living room.

Thanksgiving in Detroit

Detroit being ranked the most dangerous city in America doesn't concern the Green Bay Packers. They are ready to defend their position at the top of the NFC North Division as they hit Ford Field tomorrow at 11:30 cst.

There will be many a turkey dinner being planned around a Thanksgiving Day kickoff. I know in my house we will dine just after the Packers kick the Lions' ass. My prediction 31 - 0 Packers.

Some trends emerge from the data on the people arrested during the last 38 Packers games at Lambeau Field.

Half are age 25 or younger.

85 percent are from outside Brown County.

60 percent end up in the Brown County Jail for at least a few hours.

The average blood-alcohol level was 0.16 percent, double the legal limit to drive.Only eight people were sober, and 17 people refused to take the alcohol test.

Packers Silence Panthers Growl

As they say, on any given Sunday the favorite can lay an egg. The favorite can make an underdog look like a first place team. I think there were a few Packers fans who were a touch concerned going in to the Packers Panthers game 8-1, the Packers would go in a bit cocky, a bit too relaxed; but the concern dissipated with the Packers defense picking Testaverde's throw super early in the first quarter. While the Packers offense wasn't able to turn the interception in to points, it set the tone early and got the Lambeau crowd up on their feet. (A tough feet. No pun intended.)

The Green Bay Packers now have the best start since 1962! Mike McCarthy must just want to pinch himself! He doesn't have time to relax though, as the Packers head to Motown for a Thanksgiving Day game against division opponents the Detroit Lions. Thankfully the New York Giants were able to hold off the Lions in yesterday's game. This loss keeps the Packers in an even more comfortable lead in the NFC Central standings. Let's not speak too loudly as the Pack does have to play the Lions both away and at home, leaving a problem for the Packers if they happen to lose both of those game. Let us cross this bridge when we have to.

One of the more exciting plays from Sunday's game in Green Bay was the 94 yard return on a Panthers' pooch punt by Packers' Tramon Williams. It fell just one yard short of tying a Packers record.

When Mike McCarthy was asked by a reporter if he was proud of this Packers team, he replied, "You have to acknowledge any time you accomplish something that's part of your base plan, your base vision. I am proud of the way our players are improving and staying focused. We are playing to who we are. We don't get outside of ourselves too often. We need to continue that mindset as we move forward."

9-1 doesn't help Green Bay Packers tickets prices for those looking to buy a loved one a holiday gift. The only two regular season home games left to choose from are on 12/9 against the Oakland Raiders and on 12/30 against the Detroit Lions. I know my husband would freak if I surprised him with Packers tickets. Hey, I would freak if he surprised me with tickets.

Packers Panthers Game Heating Up

It's a couple hours before the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers take the field at Lambeau and people are fired up. All of the deerhunters have left town and all of the female Packers fans have come to town to cheer on their favorite team with the hottest QB. Green Bay Packers tickets were much cheaper a few days ago as I just experienced going in to a local ticket brokers' office. They were almost out of tickets for the game. I thought this was the cheap Packers game to go to? I guess 8-1 will do that to a ya.

Well, let's see if we can hold the Panthers to a big goose egg tomorrow. Weather report for Green Bay for tomorrow isn't all that exciting. I have seen snowflakes fall the last two days. As long as the rain hold off, I will be ok.

Packers win over Vikings -- Way Too Sweet

It has taken me a few days to get over just how fun and exciting the Green Bay Packer vs. Minnesota Vikings game was this past Sunday. Well, that and I was a bit hungover. The Vikings fans were out in Green Bay en masse. They came with their super lame purple boa's and silly Helga hats. Nice try folks. I will admit the rivalry does add a little magic to the day.

This being the last Milwaukee Green Bay Packers ticket holder game of the season; the fans were leaving Milwaukee early in the morning, driving the two hours as the sun rose over Lake Michigan to Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Packers worked efficiently and effectively on both sides of the ball. They held the Vikings to ZERO points; a feat which hadn't been done to the Minnesota Vikings since 1991! Headlines have read "Nearly Perfect Packers", "Favre, Packers Torch Vikings" or simply "Packers 34, Vikings 0" from the AP.

Brett Favre passed another milestone Sunday, joining Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks in N.F.L. history to throw for more than 60,000 career yards.

The Green Bay Packers are on a roll. Too bad the big, fat, dumb-butt Chicago Bears had to spoil the party (just momentarily) earlier this season. Our Packers are 7-1 and have won a million road trips in a row! Incredible!

The Packers went on to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in a great game yesterday in Kansas City. It was not looking so great for awhile there. The low scoring game was quickly changed with something like 35 points scored between the two teams in the 4th quarter. Charles Woodson sealed the deal, intercepting the ball and running it in for a touchdown.

As was the case on Monday night in Denver, it appeared there were a ton of Packers fans in attendance. They were having a blast! The weather was great and the Packers won; what more do you need? I bet the beer was cold and the barbecue was outstanding!

I watched the scores of a few of the other games yesterday. I didn't like watching the Detroit Lions as they chewed up the Denver Broncos. Nor did I enjoy the crazy numbers that running back in Minnesota put on the boards for the Vikings. I believe a new NFL record - 297 yards rushing!

It is ok. The Packers defense will be able to stop them as the Minnesota Vikings come to Lambeau this Sunday afternoon November 11 to play the Packers. The weather report says 53 and partly cloudy; much improved from last years' meeting when it poured and poured. And I mean a COLD rain. Yuck!

Monday Night Football in Denver was incredible as the the Denver Broncos and the Packers battled it out until the end. The game goes to overtime with the Packers offense getting the ball first and HELLO, Brett throws the long ball, an 82-yarder, to Greg Jennings for a WIN!

This Packers Broncos game marked the first win for a Packers team in Denver, ever. Toward the very end of the fourth quarter it was not looking like the win was coming for the green and gold, but as we all know the Green Bay Packers sit at 6-1 for the first time in 5 years.

Deanne Favre promoted her new book, "Don't Bet Against Me!: Beating the Odds Against Breast Cancer and in Life" in the booth. She was great. She looked great, spoke wonderfully of her family and husband and showed what a true fan she is of the Green Bay Packers. Next up in the booth was Vince Vaughn who, within seconds of speaking, mentioned ESPN's rival the NFL Network. It was pretty funny; he clearly didn't have ill-intent, just was answering their question.

The game itself was a bit more interesting for me, as my husband was in Denver for the game. I was certainly hoping for a Packers win regardless, but with him there, I was hoping for a fun, competitive, lively game. The teams delivered. With the stands filled with a great deal of Packers fans (15,000???), Broncos fans are complaining that as they looked left and right in their season tickets at Invesco Field, there was Green and Gold. Check out this guys comments on, "Too many Packers fans at Broncos game".

The Green Bay Packers will play against the Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday in Kansas City. Could this game mark a 7-1 start? Regardless, the New England Patriots will be a tough team to beat.

The Packers have actually NEVER won a game in Denver at the now named Invesco Field at Mile High. Coming off of a bye week, the Packers have won 8 of their last eleven opportunities. My husband is heading out to Denver today from Milwaukee to see both his Father and his Packers. He couldn't have been more excited. I think he slept in his Packers jersey. It is a funny thing. The Green Bay Packers vs. Denver Broncos game set for this coming Monday in Denver WAS the hottest ticket around. Enter the Colorado Rockies in the World Series. If there isn't a sweep, Game 5 of the World Series will be played down the street on the same night. The Broncos had requested the NFL move the game to Sunday, but the request was denied as the two teams do not share a stadium.

If there is a sweep in the World Series, the Monday Night Football game between the Broncos vs. Packers will kickoff at 6:30 MST. No sweep; then the Packers game will start at 6p MST.

The Denver Post wrote that the key stat in this game is the fact that Favre has thrown four of his six interceptions in the past two games. He just got it out of his system. They have had plenty of time to relax, heal and adjust to the elevation. They don't call it Mile High for nothin'.

The Packers and Broncos have split the last two meetings, of course the loss in Super Bowl XXXII was painful. It's a new century and it's someone else's turn thank you very much.

Want Green Bay Packers Season Tickets: Get in Line.

I am curious to find out whose name might have come up on the massive list that is the Packers Season tickets waiting list. I mean, we are talking about folks who put their name on the list 33 years ago! Think of how their lives have changed since then. They might have thought they'd get their tickets in a season or two and go get smashed with their buddies and watch Lynn Dickey at quarterback, but instead they have two kids in college, one planning a wedding and 200 friends looking to "take their Packers tickets off their hands" for a reasonable price. I can't imagine that feeling of each season, when the Packers ticket office sends out your updated spot on the list, watching your number get lower and lower. Imagine being #2!!! How fun!

That all said, prior to the last month or so, Green Bay Packer tickets are easily purchased through ticket brokers, ebay, craigslist or through a bar. This season they seem to have gotten a bit out of control. The least expensive ticket I found online for the Packers Vikings game on November 11 was $360 per ticket! I have been lucky enough to go to a number of games and I have never seen such prices. Experience has been, that prices will come down, but this season may be one to create new rules. If I had a dollar for the number of times I have heard Packers fans talking about, ssshhhhh, a February trip to Arizona!!

Perez Hilton got me thinking about the Packers

A few times a week I find myself indulging in a few moments with PerezHilton.com. I feel it is fairly random that the last two visits, my Green Bay Packers came to mind. First, with the Justin Timberlake sighting and now with his post of Quarterback Tom Brady. My head was spinning, is Tom Brady really the new Brett Favre? Am I living in the past? Am I still singin along to Bush's Machinehead?

Then I woke up and realized all was right with the world. Brett has already pimped himself out enough touting Prilosec and Wrangler jeans (why?) and had to turn Stetson down.

I mean Favre is a busy man. A father of two girls, husband and best quarterback for the best team in the NFL. He is leading a young Green Bay Packers team through the 2007 NFL season reaching 5-1 as I write. Favre has come a long way and deserves one more Super Bowl ring. As Favre has said, "My wife, she still gives me a hard time, and says I hunt too much or I like to play golf too much. And she's probably right, but it sure beats some of the things I used to do." While I enjoyed hearing word Favre sightings at local bars, this is the Favre I like best.

Packers go 5-1 with win against Redskins

The Green Bay Packers offense should be giving their defense a big shout out this morning because without them, the Packers would be sitting 4-2. Even though it was light, the rain fell continuously on Lambeau Field, making the ball slippery and heavy. Green Bay won over the Washington Redskins with a final score of 17-14. They got lucky. The hero in week one, Marcus Crosby had a tough day, missing two field goals. Cornerback Charles Woodson gave us fans something to cheer about in the third quarter scooping up a Redskins fumble and going the distance. Prior to this play, you could hear a pin drop at Lambeau.

I went to the Packers game with a friend who had never been. She definitely had a good time, but noted how different it felt than a game at Camp Randall watching the Wisconsin Badgers play. No complaints, just different. I think the weather was a big factor, slows the game down, which slows the fans down.

Now we sit with a bye week at a perfect time. Favre can rest and brush off the fact that he is now the NFL's all-time interception-throwing quarterback. You have to take the bad with the good, right?

I am sad to report that Justin Timberlake didn't make a repeat appearance at the Packers game this week. He was at the Packers Bears game on October 7th drinking Miller Lite with girlfriend Jessica Biel. He is crazy hot, though no #4.

Green Bay Weather Report = Bummer

Weather.com didn't have good news for Sunday's Packers Redskins game. A 60% chance of showers. I am going to go the game with a friend who has never been to Lambeau Field, so I am hopeful the weather will cooperate at least a little. She will have to check out the Lambeau Field Atrium, the Packers Pro Shop and the Packers Hall of Fame. There are a few quality tailgates to check out; Stadium View, Anduzzi's and The Bar. I can taste the yummy Bloody Mary's already!

The Green Bay Packers are favored by 3 points at home. This shouldn't be a problem. My guess Packers 24, Redskins 9.

Packers vs. Redskins at Lambeau Field this Sunday

It has been a difficult start to the week given that it started as the Green Bay Packers fell to the Chicago Bears in a devastating 27-20 loss at Lambeau Field, but there is a bright side. I will be heading up to Green Bay this weekend to watch the action live.

The Joe Gibbs' coached Washington Redskins have started the season 3-1 and are hungry for another win as their last game ended in a 34-3 win over the NFC Detroit Lions. Good thing for the Packers that their quarterback leads the NFL in completions, attempts and passing yards. Favre and the team should be able to bounce back and go 5-1 in to the bye week.

They report on Packers.com that this weekend marks the 249th consecutive regular-season sellout at Lambeau. What other venue can boast that record?

How could I not mention that today is Brett Favre's 38th birthday? Like a fine wine, he just gets better with age.

We should have known something was up when the weather report in Green Bay, WI on October 7th called for 87 degrees!!! The Packers fans and Bears fans were out en masse as early as 9a yesterday and they were fired up!

Green Bay Packers tickets were going for $200 each out on the street just hours before kick off. The writing was on the wall. This was a must-win game for the Chicago Bears and a would-be unheard of 9th win in a row for the Packers. It wasn't meant to be, although the first half of last night's nationally televised game wouldn't have you thinking that. The Packers accumulated 341 yards in offense in the first half alone. Then came the second half. Oh boy! Field position was tough. The Bears' punt returner capabilities didn't help things. And did I mention the turnovers? You have heard it before, be on the losing end of the turnovers and you will lose the game. The much-hyped Chicago Bears' defense got on the bus for the trip up from the Windy City, focing 5 turnovers! The Packers Bears score could EASILY have been 21-0 in the first half. Errrrr...

Thankfully the Detroit Lions lost on Sunday or should I say, got spanked.

Green Bay Packers 4-0!

That's right, my Green Bay Packers have started the 2007 NFL season winning 4 games. That takes them to an 8 game winning streak! A pretty impressive feat for a professional football team.

Week one the Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau. Week two the Packers took to the road and beat the New York Giants. Week three they had a crazy exciting game at Lambeau winning narrowly against the San Diego Chargers. It was week three which Brett Favre threw the touchdown which tied Dan Marino's record. The fourth win for the Packers came in the dreaded Metrodome in Minneapolis this past Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Brett Favre threw the touchdown which further catapulted him to cult-like status in the first half of the game. Dan Marino had a taped congratulations video. The crowd at the dome was split between Packers and Vikings fans, but all seemed to stand to congratulate #4 on his accomplishment.

Packers win on the road against the Giants

It is always a good feeling when you watch the home team crowd leaving the stands early as the football game is out of reach at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. That is what happened today with 4 minutes left in the 4thBrett Favre and the boys were on fire today. Sure, it was a slower first half, but the drives down field and the turnovers in the second half more than made up for it. And did you happen to catch the quantity of close up shots of #4? Like the salt and pepper hair, Brett. Very Nice.

Back to the game. It first appeared that it would be another nail biter as both the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers missed their first opportunities to put points on the board, missing field goals. There were a few dropped passes by the Packers, but overall the team played well and benefited from what looked like a lethargic, didn't-come-to-play Giants team. Final score: Packers 35, Giants 13.

The Green Bay Packers have now a week to rest to prepare for the San Diego Chargers visit to Lambeau Field on Sunday, September 23. It is early, but can we book a few rooms for February? Cancellation Policy????

Packers Hang On to Win Against Eagles

The day started out foggy in Green Bay, WI and while the sun eventually came out, the fog seemed to linger on Lambeau Field a bit longer. We had our Green Bay Packers tickets in section 126, just about the 12 yard line at Lambeau. The seats were good and the fans, both Packer and Eagles fans, were pretty fun. There were a few Lambeau First-Timers, which always puts a smile on my face.

The Green Bay Packers got lucky on Sunday winning by a narrow margin against the Philadelphia Eagles. Packers fans started off with an odd emergency announcement at Lambeau, which quickly was ignored by fans (kind of makes ya worried if there was a need for evacuation) and then dismissed by the announcer. Al Harris, who was in on the first special teams' play of the season for the Green Bay Packers, went out on a cart leaving fans thinking he was out for the season! Good Lord! Thankfully, Harris came back in and contributed to the Packers win with just one working arm.

Favre was clearly upset with his receiving core, who dropped some very catch able passes. Although, I will have to add, from the stands it looked like either Favre was off the mark, or someone ran the wrong route.

Nevertheless, the Packers won and sit 1-0 on the 2007 NFL season. The Chicago Bears lost to the San Diego Chargers. The news came today that Eli Manning would be out for a month, making this upcoming game for the Packers at Giants a bit more palatable.

Countdown to the Packers Season Opener

There are only a few opportunities left for the Green Bay Packers players to get a good nights rest prior to the NFL opener against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. Quarterback Brett Favre has an opportunity to break all sorts of NFL records. The Green Bay Packers 2007 team has an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl; that is what is great about the NFL - all teams are on a pretty level field to start the season. There always seems to be a team whose expectations were low, but make it to the playoffs.

Looks like rookie running back Brandon Jackson, out of Nebraska, will get his first start this Sunday. In interviews Jackson has said he is very excited. "I just want to go out there and play up to the best of my ability and protect No. 4," Jackson said. Vernand Morency who is in his third year playing NFL Football was the anticipated starter at the position with Ahman Green taking a lucrative offer as a free agent by the Houston Texans, but an injury in the first practice has made the picture a little less clear.

With the deadline looming (Saturday, September 1 5p CST) for players looking to make the Green Bay Packers 2007 roster, the Titans Packers game tonight doesn't mean a whole lot for fans, but does mean a lot for the players yet to earn a spot on the team.

Packers lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Preseason game

The Green Bay Packers needed to slip a little; helps make you better. The green and gold lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a final score of 21-13. Brett Favre and the starting offense for the Packers played well, but thoughts quickly went to Donald Driver who left the game with a foot injury in the second quarter.

Packers' general manager Ted Thompson told the Wisconsin State Journal that Donald Driver is expected to play in the Green Bay Packers home opener on September 9 at Lambeau Field. Thank God! He is such a pal to Favre on a team of youngsters. Certainly, he is relied upon on the field to catch Favre's bullets, but I sure he is also just a great booster of team morale.

Ex-Packer Robert Ferguson in a Vikings jersey?

After being cut by the Green Bay Packers, receiver Robert Ferguson shopped the Houston Texans, but decided to land on his feet with the Packers' rival Minnesota Vikings. While Ferguson does have six years of NFL experience under his belt, he hasn't played a full season since 2002. The sorry Minnesota Vikings team doesn't care, they need him. And with that, Robert Ferguson becomes the Minnesota Vikings biggest name on the squad.

The Minnesota Vikings finished the 2006 season 6-10, 2 games behind the 8-8 Green Bay Packers team.

Packers stick it to Holmgren's Seahawks!

WOW! I love me some Green Bay Packers football! The rain didn't let up for most of the day Saturday, but that didn't stop the 69,761 fans from cheering or the team from sticking it to the Seattle Seahawks. The final score of the Packers vs Seahawks game at Lambeau Field was 48-13. Nice. The most points scored by a Packers team in a preseason game in 69 years!

Brett Favre and the starting offense looked like they were in a much better groove than they did against the Pittsburgh Steelers the week prior, which resulted in a field goal, a touchdown and a handful of first downs. Bring in Aaron Rodgers and a few of the other second team Packers players, and the ball kept rolling.

James Jones, rookie wide receiver from San Jose, said it best, "Ain't no better feeling than scoring your first touchdown, the Lambeau Leap. I was just excited about that." Word.

The Green Bay Packers defense looked fierce (I know, I know, it's just preseason football). The defense amassed seven sacks, six forced turnovers and scored two touchdowns from Seattle fumbles. For people who bought cheap Green Bay Packers tickets for this game; they definitely got their moneys worth!

Packers Win Preseason Opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers

The final score wasn't pretty, but the Green Bay Packers won their preseason opener on the road as Brett Favre, or more like Aaron Rodgers (sorry Brett), managed their way to a 13-9 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brett Favre and the Packers offense started the game SLOW. In his four possessions at quarterback, my favorite number 4 failed to gain a first down and gained just 12 yards of offense. Rookies Brandon Jackson and James Jones, along with second-string quarterback Aaron Rodgers worked hard to produce three consecutive scoring drives for the Packers, one to close the first half and the second and third opening the second half of the game against the Steelers.

This is the time of year, you know it comes after one preseason game where Favre doesn't produce all that much, where Packers pundits start calling for #4's retirement. You have heard it before, no reason the 2007-2008 Green Bay Packers' Season should be any different. Phewy, Favre will be just fine taking the field for 4 quarters when the REAL NFL season starts in September.

"The thing about preseason that's kind of interesting is you're expected to do well," Aaron Rodgers said. "If you don't do well, everybody asks you why you didn't play well. If you do play well, people say, 'Oh, well, you moved the ball against the No. 2s.' So it's kind of a no-win situation. At the same time, I'm continuing to work hard and hopefully put together another good performance."

This Saturday, August 18, the Seattle Seahawks and Mike Holmgren arrive in Green Bay to get Lambeau Field warmed up for the regular season. How many snaps is Brett Favre going to take? More than 4 would be nice.

I like Brett Favre's thinking. Go out on top. The Green Bay Packers had the youngest team in the NFL last season and were still able to go 8-8. They have added some players, notably, Tennessee defensive tackle Justin Harrell. The Packers' defensive line looks good, with the offensive line still making improvements. The addition of a solid running back would be nice. Green Bay Packers' receivers, Greg Jennings, rookie James Jones, Ruvell Martin, Carlyle Holiday and Robert Ferguson are anchored by #80 Donald Driver. Rookie receiver David Clowney of Virgina Tech has a big spotlight on him, with fans and coaches alike looking for him to make a significant impact on this 2007-2008 Packers team. Wide receiver, Koren Robinson is due to be hitting Lambeau Field by the end of September after serving his one year league suspension.

Mike McCarthy said in the most recent Packers press conference, "Player acquisition is a daily conversation." This conversation better lead to some playmakers.

Green Bay Packers Family Night a Hit!

With 32 days to go until the Green Bay Packers' Season opener, fans had to settle with a scrimmage between the Green and Gold's offense and defense this weekend at Lambeau Field. The Packers ticket office set aside an entire section of Lambeau Field for deployed service men and women and their families. Children went to the frozen tundra with parents, grandparents and other extended family members; something that budgets usually prohibit for regular season games. Packers' rookie running back Brandon Jackson gave the diehards something to cheer for as he marched down the field. With the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks coming to town for the Packers' preseason games, we should get another look at how this puzzle of a team is going to come together.

Green Bay Packers Tickets Have Arrived!

I have heard from a few (lucky) pals that the Green Bay Packers Season tickets have arrived in the mail! A very exciting time for folks to divide up the games amongst family members, friends etc...but more often it appears to be a nice opportunity to make a few dollars. Packers season ticket holders can post their tickets on ebay, craigslist.com, and sell them directly to one of the various ticket brokers around. All potential outlets will prove to be a profitable move for the lucky, lucky season ticket holder.

This upcoming season for the Packers really is solid start to finish as far as scheduling goes. Most games are noon starts, with the exception of the Packers Bears game on a Sunday night. This season, Packers fans don't have to weigh time with the family on New Years Eve vs a Packers game at Lambeau Field.

The other thing I have found is that Green Bay Packers tickets make a great gift. I know if I opened a box with two tickets to see Brett Favre and the boys at the frozen tundra, I would be PRETTY happy!

Jim Caple, a writer from LA TV Station ABC7 has comprised a lengthy list of "the 101 Things All Sports Fans Must Experience Before They Die". Which is kind of a fun read. I of course went looking immediately to see where the Green Bay Packers experience at Lambeau Field ranked on the list.

According to Caple, who live in a town WITHOUT a NFL team, a trip to Lambeau is #53.

He writes, "Green Bay Packers game in the snow (December, Green Bay). Lambeau Field is one of the few NFL stadiums with history and character, and the best time to enjoy the stadium's true flavor is in the depth of winter when the snow is falling, the mercury has plunged to single digits and your body is so numb it feels like you were blindsided by Reggie White."
