Green Bay Packers Increase Security

Apparently we have been risking our lives when we have swiped our tickets at a Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field. Announced earlier this week, the team will be constructing a $1 million dollar 2-1/2 foot high concrete barrier around most of the stadium. It will sit roughly 100 feet from the exterior of Lambeau. The goal is not to detract from the mystique of Lambeau, but to add to it's beauty with flowers and planeters. Funding is readily available for a project such as this through the Packers' capital improvement

The NFL requires such a barrier, and so, the Packers are getting busy and planning to have the work completed in . The Lambeau Field parking lots will be affected slighty, but to no big deal.

Green Bay Packers' Brett Favre Closer to Tip Top Shape

While Brett Favre has sat out a few Green Bay Packers team practices, as he has to continue to rest his ankle and now his shoulder which he has said is tendinitis and "nothing serious", he still feels good for the upcoming season. Favre said he is going to continue to work with his personal trainer on core conditioning and move to moving drills to help Favre go back to what made him famous - moving out of pocket.

On packers.com, Favre was quoted as saying, "I get tired a lot quicker now than I used to, so after a play I have to be able to regroup and run the next play." It sounds like Brett recognizes his age is catching up with him, but with a little extra hard work and creative conditioning, he can keep tricking his body. I know many folks who still think he looks like a kid, that is for sure!

Dreaming of Lambeau...

All this Packers talk is getting me so excited for the first game!! Just under TWO MONTHS until the first Green Bay Packers preseason game!!!

My first game was a preseason game three years ago when I found really cheap Green Bay Packers Tickets...and since then...I've had Lambeau Field fever, on top of my ongoing case of Packers fever. Going to Green Bay now, for me, is a little bit like going home!!

I'll never forget the first time I saw the field. I'd seen it a million times on television and I had studied the Lambeau Field seating chart religiously--so I was expecting this enormous stadium. I couldn't believe how small and intimate it was. The larger than life icons taking the field suddenly looked life-size. I felt like I was at a local high school game. And, no matter where you sit you are so close to the action. I've sat 5 rows up and 49 rows up, and both times I was completely entranced by the game.

While you can count on having a good time at Lambeau...one thing you cannot count on is the weather. I've been to a preseason game in 90 degree temperatures. Then, months later, I'll be sitting in the same stadium bundled up in zillions of layers, gloves, hats and big boots--barely able to lift my arms beneath all my attire to cheer on the green and gold.

But, soon you learn the temperature doesn't matter. It's all about watching good football and having a good time with your friends, and the friends you make while you're there. There's nothing like the camaraderie at Lambeau. With every good play and every touchdown--there are plenty of high fives, hugs, chest butts to go around. Chances are you will embrace the stranger sitting next to you on a number of occasions.

There's no place like Lambeau!!!

Antonio Freeman's Retirement Party

Looks like Antonio Freeman's retirement party will be held in Green Bay, WI, as he has unofficially signed a contract to play for the Green Bay Packers in the upcoming season.

A favorite target of #4 Brett Favre in the 8 seasons they played together. Freeman caught 431 passes, or bullets as the NFL announcers like to say.

Not that you forgot, but remember the famous play on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings? Freeman caught a crazy ball of Favre's, a ball the announcers said was uncatchable given the conditions, but Freeman not only caught the ball; he ran it in for a touchdown!

David Clowney signs contract with Packers

Virginia Tech wide receiver David Clowney signed a contract, the first rookie thus far, with the Green Bay Packers. Clowney was drafted in the fifth-round of the NFL draft and has obviously already impressed coaches.

Details of the deal haven't been confirmed, other than it being a 4 year deal, which is the longest contract a player picked later than the third round can sign.

14th Annual Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale

Can it be true? Green Bay Packers' gear at 40 to 70 percent off!

This weekend, Juen 8th and 9th, in the Lambeau Field atrium, fans and bargain shoppers alike can find some sweet deals on all things Packers. Packers Jerseys. Packers T-Shirts. Packers hats. Packers bobbleheads. Game-worn gear, including autographed Packers jerseys and pants. All will be a the 14th Annual Green Bay Packers Pro Shop Tent Sale. This event used to take place out in the parking lot of Lambeau, but now with the atrium begging to be used and the rain ceasing to stop, the event is help indoors.

While the offerings are lighter than in recent years, due to the renovated Packers Shop within Lambeau Field and you won't find many items with #4 on them, there still is enough to keep Packers' fans happy! The equipment manager seems to get credit for the "best" stuff. For obvious reasons, this is the place to be if you are looking for size 16 shoes or a 4xl jacket!
If history repeats itself, you may want to head to Lambeau Field early. Doors will be open from 9a-5p each day, but shoppers get the line started hours earlier.

Green Bay Packers Family Night 101

I think it is safe to say the intra-squad scrimmage between the Green Bay Packers offense and defense is the most well-attended of it's kind. In 2006, the event attracted 62,701 Packers fans to Lambeau Field! Attendance has grown each of it's seven years; in 1999, just 46,420 bought tickets!

This year the game will be played on August 4th. Packers Family Night also includes on-field football drills and a "Shirt Off Our Back" drawing where 20 jerseys worn by Green Bay Packers players during the scrimmage are raffled off.

Green Bay Packers' Family Night tickets will go on sale on Saturday, June 16 through TicketStar outlets. Fans can find outlets through the Packers website or by calling the Green Bay Packers ticket office at 920-494-3401 or 800-895-0071. Tickets are just $8! Perfect for taking the whole family to Lambeau Field!

Bart's a Packers Fan.

Good Times....In the METRODOME????

While it is true the Green Bay Packers lost the game against the Minnesota Vikings to a last minute field goal on that fateful Sunday afternoon in 2005, I do have to admit it still was fun! It was an unexpected surprise that a group of Packers fans from Wisconsin met up with (can it be?) Vikings fans and had a great weekend.

If you can, I think planning to check out a Packers away game each year is a SUPER idea. The language and wasted energy the Vikings (in this example) fans will expel on you is worth the price of admission. We sat amongst the purple-clad Minnesotans who sure thought they were something special in their way-too-loud, depressing, no-history-having DOME. Again though, pretty fun. Having been to a number of games at Lambeau against our division-rivals, I feel pretty comfortable saying we are the more amiable of the two hosts.

Like I said it was a last minute trip, which was to our pocketbooks' benefit as the tickets for the Packers Vikings game was totally fair. We bought our tickets from a company called Minnesota Vikings Tickets who were super nice and priced right. The bigger expense came at that darn Mall of America! My advice, buy Vikings tickets in advance of your road trip on www.vikingstickets.com before spending ticket money at the best DSW I have ever been to!

The upcoming game on the 2007-2008 Green Bay Packers schedule which seems like an obvious choice for me is to get a dose of the Bears' fans at the Packers Bears game at Soldier Field on December 23. Who's in?

What did I miss?

Well, the month of May continues to fly by....Brett Favre was particularly busy with his party-planning business. Who knew he could create centerpieces and hor'devours?

Turns out Martha Stewart, Favre isn't...he passed on kitchen duty (and the potential fines the Green Bay Packers were going to impose) and showed up in Green Bay for the first mandatory mini-camp this past weekend. Even though he is still recovering from having bone spurs removed from his ankle this past February, Favre could have hit the field during the camp, but was held out for precautionary reasons. Brett has said that he intends on getting himself in the best shape of his career for the upcoming season. With his 38th birthday around the corner, Favre's body will only thank him on Monday's for the preparation today. On a personal note, I want my Green Bay Packers tickets at Lambeau Field in Sec 120, Row 1 to check out this, errr, preparation!

Wait, is there a pink elephant in this post.... no mention of Brett Favre's alleged comment about requesting to be traded by the Green and Gold?

No there isn't. As I believe in my heart of hearts, that Brett would NEVER speak of such an atrocity!

UW's Stocco on the Packers roster?

According to Green Bay Packers Coach, Mike McCarthy, UW-Wisconsin Quarterback, John Stocco was to get three practices with the Packers and from there McCarthy would make a decision to extend an offer to him. As of May 4, Mike McCarthy said he was impressed with Stocco's performance, but would need to talk through the options and possible make a decision by today, May 6.

As the current rookie's gather in Green Bay to take a look at the playbook, get acquainted with the town and take in a bit of the Green Bay Packers incredible history, Brett Favre (hopefully) can rest easy knowing this will be the team that goes back to the Super Bowl.

Draft Dodging and the Packers

Like I stated previously, I don't really have the time to fully analyze the NFL draft like dudes do, BUT I do have a good enough understanding of what it was the Green Bay Packers were missing on the field last season to know that when the team announced it's first round pick was a defensive lineman in Justin Harrell out of Tennessee, there was going to be controversy.

It boils down to philosophy. Pick the best player available, regardless of position, at the time of your pick. Pick the player who will fill your highest priority need when your pick is up. Or draft a player who you might be able to use to negotiate with. Is more, better when it comes to defensive weapons? Is Brett Favre all it takes to bring the offensive line up to a competitive level 100% of the time?

The expectations EVERY SINGLE SEASON with Green Bay Packers fans is that this team is going, at minimum to the NFL Playoffs. Will the moves, or lack of moves made by Packer GM, Ted Thompson in this off-season help to meet fans' expectations? Only time will tell.

NFL Draft and the Green and Gold

I really am in over my head on this NFL Draft talk and what the Green Bay Packers will or won't do....Can't sink my teeth in to it? As Steve Czaben said today, the draft is really an excuse for men to try to sound like an expert and that teams just need to pick a player they think is a good fit for the needs. The first year the draftee hits the field for their new team, it is unlikely he will be an impact player. Depth. Rounds. Scheme. Football Intelligence. Stock. 40-yard dash. Trades.

I don't know. I just know that once this weekend is over, the Green Bay Packers and my Brett Favre can get to business and focus on how they are going to win 14 games this season and go all the way to the Super Bowl. But will it be with Randy Moss???????

The schedule looks rough. It always does; no? (I can't remember the last time the NFL schedule came out and people were like, "piece of cake"!)

Isn't that the beauty of the NFL?

Say it isn't so...

Emotions will run high again at the end of this NFL season for #4 of the Green Bay Packers....

Nick Barnett Going the Distance with the Packers

It became official on Tuesday, that rather than seeking out free agency, starting middle linebacker for the Green Bay Packers, Nick Barnett will quite possibly play his entire career for the Green and Gold.

Nick Barnett has and will continue to work hard on and off the field for the Packers. He is considered a leader on defense. Barnett has said that he feels blessed to be in a position to play for one team for his career, as very few players do.

As a Green Bay Packers fan, I applaud his decision and the Packers decision to extend a long-term deal Barnett's way.

Hey, more good news...only 2 1/2 hours to go until the Green Bay Packers 2007 schedule is confirmed!!!

Green Bay Packers 2007 Schedule

Here we are at the start of April.... this means that we will know VERY SOON the Packers 2007 season. You name it - pre-season, home games, away games, post-season (ok, not post-season, but say it with me....Your Super Bowl-bound Green Bay Packers). We do already know the two home pre-season wins at Lambeau Field will come at the hands of Mike Holmgren's Seattle Seahawks and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Remember, my experience has been that the pre-season Packers games are great to take the kids to...ticket prices are lower for these games and the beer consumption seems the follow that same trend. I have had luck with a local Wisconsin ticket broker, vs going the ebay direction or national ticket company. There is one right on Oneida Street in Green Bay, WI. You can pick up your Green Bay Packers tickets right at Ticket King.
